Wins for RWBT & VFC Devizes

Martin Cooper amongst the goals for Royal Wootton Bassett Town in their 5-0 win over Swindon Rovers

VFC Devizes joined Melksham Town at the top of the Mid-Wiltshire Vets Division with a narrow 1-0 win over Marlborough Town, the only goal of the game coming in the second half courtesy of VFC Devizes player-manager Craig Townsend. That means a maximum six points for Devizes from their opening two games, whilst for Marlborough Town that is now back-to-back defeats in their opening two fixtures.

The other game played in the Mid Wiltshire Division saw Bradford Town and Trowbridge Tigers share four goals. All four goals came in the second half, Marc Canham and Rhys Schell scoring for Bradford Town, Phil Lewis and Clifford Sakyi replying for the Tigers to secure their first point of the season. The point for Bradford meant they are now two points behind the joint leaders after all three sides have played two games.

In the North Division Royal Wootton Bassett Town kicked off their season with a comfortable win over Swindon Rovers. Royal Wootton Bassett Town led 2-0 at the break and three unanswered second half goals completed a 5-0 win. Dan Badman led the way for Royal Wootton Bassett Town with a hat-trick, the other two goals being scored by Andy Huggins and Martin Cooper.
