Goals Galore in the Vets Divisions including
4 for Richie of the Rovers on debut
Action in the Veteran’s Divisions after Lockdown 2 restarted on Monday night with two games in the Mid Wiltshire Division. Unfortunately, the top of the table clash between Melksham Town and VFC Devizes well victim to the weather with the attempt to find an alternative venue to stage the game being unsuccessful.

The two games that did go ahead on a bitterly cold night both resulted in home wins. Bradford Town moved up to fourth place in the table with an impressive 5-1 win over Marlborough Town. A hat-trick from Rhys Schell and two from Paul Beavers did the damage for Bradford, Richard Clark with the Marlborough Town goal. Corsham Town climbed into fifth spot level on points with Bradford Town but with a game in hand following a hard fought 3-1 win over third placed Amesbury Junior. Corsham led 2-0 at the break and with both sides getting one goal each in the second half it finished 3-1 to Corsham, two goals for Luke Chapman and a second of the season from Stuart Skinner for the home side, substitute Anthony Sharp with his second of the season for Amesbury.

On Tuesday night the two sides at the bottom end of the table, FC Calne and Chippenham Yard Dogs met at Green Lane Devizes. In a one-sided affair FC Calne picked up their second win of the season hitting ten unanswered goals to take the three points. Dan Allison led the way for FC Calne scoring four times, Terry Cox netted twice and there was one apiece for Stephen Kennedy, Ben Trafford, Craig Pike and Gary Whitney.

On the same night there was also a big score in the game played in the North Wiltshire Division as the two sides at the bottom of this division, Swindon Rovers and AFC Swindon,  went in search of their first points of the season. It was Rovers new signing Richard Miles who was the star of the show hitting four goals on his debut, Mark Simpkins bagged a brace and there was one apiece for Darren McGowan and Shaun Smith in an 8-0 win for Swindon Rovers.

Finally, the League has received confirmation from the Defence Academy that, due to the knock-on effects on the training college working arrangements from Covid-19, they will be unable to commit to league fixtures in the North Wiltshire Division this season. Hopefully, circumstances in the future will allow them to return to the Veteran’s Divisions in subsequent seasons.
