There was a mixed set of results in the pre-season games involving sides from the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League in the final Saturday before the commencement of the league season.
Season 2018-19 champions
Wroughton
took on higher league opposition in the shape of Uhlsport Hellenic League outfit Shrivenham. Wroughton pushed a side who play two steps above them in the National League System all the way eventually going down by the odd goal in five. Shrivenham went two up but a well struck free kick from Craig Bowden got Wroughton back into the game. Shrivenham restored their two-goal advantage with a shot from the edge of the box. Whilst Devan Bryan pulled another one back for Wroughton that was the end of the scoring. Highlights of the game were captured by Your Sport Swindon and can be viewed using the link at the bottom of the days round-up or the link on the Your Sport Swindon page.
Marlborough Town
have been the busiest side in the Premier Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League and played their seventh pre-season game with a visit to Step 6 side Devizes Town. It was their higher-level opponents who had the better of things running out 4-0 winners.
Odd Down Reserves, like Pewsey Vale, have had a good pre-season to date. In a hastily arranged friendly after the intended fixture was called-off Odd Down defeated Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division 2 side Abbeymead Rovers 3-1. Goals from Dan Taylor, Josh Riccio and a rare strike from assistant manager Terry Wade gave Odd Down the win.
Purton
seem to have hit form at the right time, and they made it three wins on the bounce with an emphatic 10-1 win over Swindon & District Premier League side Nalgo Sports. Charity sponsored Lewis Petrie fired a hat-trick with the other 7 goals being shared around the team with one each for Josh Morse, Jack Duckers, Danny Hale, Liam Crabbe, Aaron Dainton, Joe English and Mitchell Petrie.
Frome Collegians
went into their game at Somerset County League Division One side Somerton Town on the back of two encouraging wins. With the game evenly poised at half time, Frome had one of those second half performances to forget as they shipped six goals and only managed one in reply, Sam Wright with the Frome goal.
Malmesbury Vics Development
were involved in an ill-disciplined game against Swindon & District League Premier Division side Ruby Removals. Trailing 3-0 to their visitors, Malmesbury staged a fight back, Joe Tranter and Josh Hughes both getting a brace to give Malmesbury a 4-3 win in the end.
Corsham Town Reserves
took a trip across the border to take on Somerset County League Premier Division side Clevedon United and in a high-scoring game went down by the odd goal as the home side won 4-3. On target for Corsham were Emilio Mudrak, Jamie Cunning and Ryan Withers.
Melksham Town Reserves
entertained Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One side Malmesbury Victoria and went in front against their higher level opponents but Malmesbury equalised on the half hour mark and then scored the winner early in the second half, 2-1 the final score.
Shrewton United
