There were just two games played in midweek in the Premier Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League with both Malmesbury Victoria Development and Salisbury FC Development hitting their opponents for six.
Devizes Town ReserveswereMalmesbury Victoria Development’s visitors and the home side continued their good run which has now seen them win five of their last six games to climb into fifth place in the table. Malmesbury are now just one point behind Corsham Town Development, who they meet on Saturday, and four points behind Calne Town Reserves with two games in hand over both the two teams above them. It was very much Harrison Archer’s night as helped himself to four goals to take his total for the season to 12. His first came from the penalty spot and he then extended Malmesbury’s lead before Devizes pulled one back. Archer then restored his sides two goal advantage to complete a first half hat-trick and with Joe Tranter adding a fourth, taking his personal tally for the season to nine, Malmesbury went into the half time break with a 4-1 lead and in a commanding position. Archer scored his fourth of the game to make it 5-1 before Devizes pulled one back. That was not the end of the scoring as Archer's brother James Archer decided to also got in on the goal scoring act, adding a sixth to make the final score 6-2 to Malmesbury. Devizes goals were scored by James Cox and Liam Moffat. Having won five out of six games in September scoring some 35 goals in the process joint managers Troy Prentice and Dave Sheppard would have been candidates for manager of the month if there were such an award in the division.

Another manager who has overseen five wins in September is Salisbury FC Development boss Mark Winter. Having been dominant at home at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium Salisbury are now starting to transfer that home form away from their own ground, an impressive 6-1 away win at the InfiLED Stadium against Melksham Town Reserves sending a strong message that they intend to break into the top five in the very near future. Once again it was the strike partnership of Devon Arnold and Layton Tulk who did the damage, the pair having now scored 21 goals between them. Tulk took his total for the season to seven with a hat-trick, whilst the two that Arnold scored moved him onto 14 for the season, this after Reece McSorley had got Salisbury on the way with the opener. A late consolation goal from Cameron Pearce was all Melksham could take away from an evening where they were well beaten by the visitors who climbed up to seventh spot in the table as a result of their win, with games in hand over all the sides above them in the table. That is now four straight defeats for Craig Kent’s side, and it does not get any easier this Saturday when league leaders and unbeaten Royal Wootton Bassett Town visit the InfiLED Stadium. Salisbury meanwhile travel into Swindon to play Stratton Juniors.
