Top Two Both Win
Both the top two sides continued their good starts to the season with wins on Saturday. League leaders Pewsey Vale were involved in their local derby with struggling Marlborough Town but as is often the way in local derbies the final score was a lot closer than current form would suggest. Pewsey Vale extended their winning run to nine straight games but were made to work hard for the three points by a Marlborough Town side who raised their game for this derby fixture played on a heavy pitch at the Recreation Ground. Pewsey secured a 3-1 win with youngster Rory England bagging a brace, Jake Force Jones with the other Pewsey goal for his third of the season. Zach Symon with the Marlborough Town goal, his 21st of the season.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development travelled to Ludgershall Sports looking to maintain the pressure on Pewsey Vale at the top. Whilst not at their best and with leading scorer Matty Bennett having been called up to the first team due to injuries and suspensions they still managed to secure a 6-1 away win at Astor Crescent. Dale Richards led the way, scoring his 16th and 17th goals of the season, Nathan Hawkins, Dan Watt and James Johnson all scored their first goals of the season in the Premier Division and one from Tyler Sheppard completed the scoring for the visitors, Stuart Evans replying for the Sports who will welcome back manager Andy Fennell next week when they travel to Marlborough for one of their local derby games.

Corsham Town Development could have been second in the table before Saturday’s games if they had won their home fixture against Melksham Town Reserves under the lights at the Southbank Ground on Friday night. However, an impressive performance from Craig Kent’s young Melksham Town Reserves saw them return home with the points following a 2-1 away success. On target for Melksham were Matt Caslin and a deflected goal from Joe English, Adam Mitchell with the solitary Corsham goal which took him onto 13 for the season. The win on Friday night saw Melksham temporarily climb a couple of places in the table to seventh spot but results on Saturday sent them back down to where they had started the weekend in ninth place. For Corsham that is now two home defeats in a row ahead of next week's visit from Stratton Juniors.
The divisions top scorers Calne Town Reserves had put 13 past Stratton Juniors when they had met early in the season and with Stratton having already turned around heavy defeats in initial fixtures against both Shrewton United and Malmesbury Vics Dev in the return games they were hoping to do the same for a third time when they hosted the division’s most lethal front line. However, it was not to be this time round as they crashed to their heaviest defeat under new manager Neil Lee, going down 6-0 as Calne took their total goal tally for the season to 86. Both Kassa Anderson and Oscar Webster scored twice, Anderson taking his personal total for the season to 15 and Webster moving onto eight, further goals from Rory Davis and Adam Sullivan rounded off a good afternoon for Calne who moved above Corsham Town Development into fourth spot.
Odd Down Reserves were Shrewton United’s visitors to the Recreation Ground on Saturday. Odd Down had exited the Somerset Senior Cup last week but had pushed one of the favourites for the cup, Nalisea and Tickenham, all the way. Their recent league form ahead of their trip to Shrewton was also good with wins in both their previous two league meetings and they were hoping to continue that winning run. The one previous league meeting between the sides saw Shrewton return from the Lew Hill Memorial Stadium last season with all three points following a comfortable 5-0 success but Odd Down avenged that defeat in the last meeting between the sides in the group stages of the Fountain Trophies Cup winning 2-1 on their one and only previous visit to Shrewton Recreation Ground. There was to be no repeat of that result though in their first league visit to Shrewton as goals from Charlie Utterson, Christian Boothe, Conor Cutler and Elliott Smith gave Shrewton the points in a 4-1 win. Shrewton have been up and down all season with their results, and today was one of those ups but with eight of their remaining 11 league fixtures at home they will be hoping to move up the table in the coming weeks. Odd Down's solitary goal came courtesy of Marley Carpenter with his fourth goal of the season.

After last weeks defeat at Stratton Juniors Malmesbury Vics Development were keen to return to winning ways and continue what is turning out to be their best season in a long while. For them it was a short journey to the Red House for their derby game against an out of sorts Purton side. When the two sides had met at the start of the season Malmesbury had won 6-1 and they went two goals better in the return fixture, 8-1 the final score in the second encounter of the season between the two sides. Jack Duckers, who had scored twice in that earlier fixture, doubled that tally in the return, his four goals seeing him move onto 16 for the season. One ahead of him now is teammate Harrison Archer who bagged a brace in the latest encounter with Purton. A Kyle Witt penalty and an own goal completed the scoring for a rampant Malmesbury side, Morgan Francis with the consolation goal for Purton.

The scheduled games between Wroughton and Frome Collegians and Trowbridge Town and Salisbury FC Development were both postponed due to Covid precautions relating to the Frome Collegians and Salisbury FC camps.
