The big game of the week in the Veterans’ Divisions between Marlborough Town and Corsham Town unfortunately did not take place as Marlborough Town called off a fixture for the third time this season. The postponement of the game confirms Corsham Town as champions of the Mid Wiltshire Division, so well done to Chris Jones and his side who, having lost their opening game, then went unbeaten in the league for the rest of the season winning all but one of the games in that run.
The one game that was played in the Mid Wiltshire Division this week saw FC Calne and St Andrews involved in a rare 0-0 draw on Monday night, just the third such goalless of the season in the two Veterans’ Divisions, with St Andrews being involved in all three including the first meeting with FC Calne. On this occasion St Andrews had keeper Stuart Powell to thank for the clean sheet, his one handed save denying FC Calne the three points.
In the North Division, Redhouse completed their fixtures for the season with a convincing 6-0 win over bottom of the table to finish three points clear of Stratton Juniors to secure runners-up spot. Leading scorer Dave Rendle led the way firing a hat-trick to take his total for the season to 19, with Anthony McCusker, Mikey Lichota and Chris Hughes with the other Redhouse goals.
There is now just one fixture to go in each division to complete the season. North Division champions KMLC finish the season with a game against a much improved Swindon Rovers, whilst in the Mid Wiltshire Division third place VFC Devizes meet a St Andrews side who ended their chance of honours last week when holding Devizes to a 2-2 draw with the last kick of the game.
Finally all Veterans' sides are reminded there is a General Meeting on Thursday Evening to agree the format for next season.
