Just the one Veterans’ Cup semi final was played this week with the second semi between FC Calne and Swindon Rovers now scheduled to take place a week on Monday (6th June 2022).
The game that was played this week was between Cricklade Town and Chippenham Town Yard Dogs and it was a tight affair at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground. Whilst Cricklade created the better chances neither side was able to find the net during the 50 minutes of normal play and penalties were needed to decide matters. Cricklade, who took the first penalty, scored all five of their spot kicks, penalty takers Andy Brien, Aaron Wilson, Adam Mayhew, James Richards and Matt Richards all safely finding the back of the net. Yard Dogs scored their first four, but the final spot kick was put wide meaning it is Cricklade Town who progress to the final by the narrowest of margins. Well done to Cricklade on making the final and they now wait to see who they will meet in that final.
