All at the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League were deeply saddened to be informed of the passing of Honorary Fixtures Secretary Phil Cook yesterday after a short illness.
Phil was a dedicated, much liked and highly respected individual who has provided immense service to football in Wiltshire and was an Honorary Member of the Wiltshire Football Association in recognition of that service.
After Phil finished playing, he took up refereeing in 1969 and reached Class 2, which is equivalent to the current County League standard of Level 5. Phil joined the Wiltshire County League as Assistant League Secretary in 1977, the year after the league was formed. The following season, he was elected to the newly created position of League Fixtures Secretary, which he held up until his sad passing yesterday.
Our thoughts are with Phil’s wife Jose and the family at this sad time.
As a mark of respect, the League have requested that all clubs observe a minutes silence before their fixtures this week.
