The draw for the First and Second Rounds of the Fountain Trophies Cup were recently made by Chairman Brian Busson and League Secretary JIm Thorn. With 33 teams in the two divisions just one game is required to be played in the First Round and it saw Premier Division Frome Collegians, semi-finalists last season, drawn at home to Division One side Cricklade Town. The winner of the tie will then be at home to Lambourn Sports in the Second Round.
Elsewhere in the Second Round draw, cup holders Larkhall Athletic Development will be away to Kintbury Rangers Development. There are a number of interesting looking ties with Premier Division champions Trowbridge Town having a tricky looking game at Woodmarsh where newly promoted Kingsdown will fancy their chances of causing a cup upset. Blunsdon at home to Wroughton is another top looking tie. In total there are eight ties where Division One sides have the chance to cause a cup upset by knocking out Premier Division opponents.
Kingsdown, Kintbury Rangers, Pewsey Vale Shrivenham and Wroughton, all have both their first team and their reserve / development teams taking part in the cup competition. Once a player has played for one team, he is then cup-tied and cannot play for another team in the competition. For example, if a player was to play for Kingsdown, he would be ineligible to play for Kingsdown Development (or any other team) in any subsequent rounds.
