Coate made it through to their second cup final of the season after they won the all-North Wiltshire Division League Cup semi final against league leaders Redhouse. Adam Rudman gave Coate a 1-0 lead at the break and a second from Ashraf Ali midway through the second half ensured Coate a second cup final date at Melksham in April. Coate will now meet the winner of Monday's other semi final between Westbury United and Cricklade Town in the final with the final set for Friday April 19th.
Meanwhile in the league in the North Wiltshire Division, Cricklade Town warmed up for next week’s League Cup semi final tie with a comfortable 4-0 win over Swindon Rovers. Leading scorer TJ Bohane added one more to his season’s total as he moved onto 15 for the season with the other three goals coming through Phil Corcoran, Matt Richards and Dean Wilson. The win saw Cricklade move to within a point of leaders Redhouse.
Chiseldon climbed a couple of places in the table after a narrow 2-1 win over bottom of the table Stratton Juniors. Goals from Ashraf Ali and Adam O’Keeffe secured the three points for Chiseldon, Nick Salter with the reply for Stratton Juniors.
There were four games played in the Mid Wiltshire Division this week with the big match being the top of the table clash on Tuesday night between Corsham Town and Warminster Town. Corsham Town started the night four points clear of Warminster, but Warminster had two games in hand, having dropped fewer points than leaders Corsham. With Corsham Town having already played the other side at the top of the table, Melksham Town twice, they knew that a win would put them in the driving seat in the title race. The evening went very much Corsham’s way as two goals from Josh Brigham and one from Ross Lye secured a 3-1 win, Greg Lewis with the reply for Warminster. The win means Corsham now hold a seven-point advantage over Warminster and only have Devizes to play of the other top four sides in the final run in.
Melksham Town stayed in touch with the leaders with a comfortable 4-0 away win at Green Lane on Monday night against Chippenham Town. The goals were shared around with one goal apiece for Kris Beasley, Ian Dowell, James Taylor and Adam Young. Melksham remain three points behind Corsham with a game in hand but still have Warminster to play twice plus Devizes Town in their remaining eight fixtures. It is once again tight at the top of the Division, and it could well yet come down to goal difference to decide matters although there are still lots of points to be won and lost.
Westbury United are fast becoming the division’s draw specialists as they drew for the fifth time this season, Dale Rowland scoring his ninth of the season in a 1-1 draw with Durrington. Westbury remain in seventh place in the table, two points and two places below Durrington.
At the bottom end of the table Trowbridge Town Tigers picked up their fourth victory of the season with a 3-0 win over bottom side Amesbury Junior Badgers. A first half goal from Dan Peters was added to with further strikes from Mariusz Hoszko and Phil Lewis in the second half. The win for Tigers saw them move above Radstock Town in the table as they also moved level on points with Calne Town.
