It is as you were at the top of the Mid Wiltshire Veterans’ Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League as both leaders Corsham Town and second placed Melksham Town secured home wins. On Monday night Melksham Town were 2-0 winners over League Cup finalists Westbury United thanks to goals from Tom Robinson and Oliver Gee. That win saw Melksham move to within two points of leaders Corsham but come the end of the following night that gap was back at five points after Corsham Town secured an excellent 5-0 win over Durrington. Ross Lye scored twice to double his total for the season and there were further goals from Jamie Lyons, Liam Ralph and Adrian Webb as Corsham restored their five point lead, with Melksham having a game in hand.
The other game played on Monday night saw Chippenham Town record a narrow 3-2 win over Radstock Town, Darren Chitty (2) and Steve Tweddle with the Chippenham goals.
Just two of the scheduled games in the North Wiltshire Veterans’ Division went ahead with Swindon Old Boys unable to raise a side for their game against Coate and then withdrawing from the League two days later. On Tuesday night Cricklade Town again lost ground in their quest for the title when they were held to a draw for the second week running, Penhill United holding them to a 0-0 draw. The two points dropped left Cricklade five points adrift of leaders Redhouse with just three games to play.
The other game that went ahead was on Wednesday night at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground where goals from Josh Connolly, Mark Simpkins, Mark King and leading scorer Jeremy Newton gave Royal Wootton Bassett Town a 4-0 win over Chiseldon. The win for Royal Wootton Bassett Town saw them move up to fifth place in the table.
