Wiltshire Senior League
 Vets' Round-up - Limited
  Action Due to Easter Holidays

Due to the Easter school holidays there has been limited action across the two Veterans’ Divisions of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League in the past fortnight with just four games played, two in each of the divisions.

Both games played in the Mid Wiltshire Veterans’ Division produced six goals with big wins for both Westbury United ahead of this week’s upcoming League Cup Final and Devizes Town. Westbury United warmed up for this week’s League Cup Final against Coate from the North Wiltshire Veterans’ Division with a 6-0 win over Trowbridge Town Tigers. Both Dale Rowland and Peter Ayton scored twice with further goals from David Percival and Paul Beavers. The win saw Westbury consolidate their sixth-place position with just the one league game to play.

Meanwhile Devizes Town and Amesbury Junior Badgers hastily rearranged their game that had been postponed the previous week and Devizes were rewarded with a win for their endeavours in getting the game rearranged. Two goals for both Rob Mitchell and leading scorer Rhys Schell in their 5-1 win, Liam Hill with the other Devizes goal with Richard Teague replying for Amesbury Junior Badgers. This was Badgers final league game of the season and, whilst they have ended the season without a point, they have the honour of being the first Veterans’ side to complete all of their fixtures in Season 2023-24.

The scheduled game between Warminster Town and Durrington was awarded to Warminster with Durrington unable to raise a side.

The two games played in the North Wiltshire Division both involved the three teams fighting it our for the league title. Coate maintained their title challenge with an emphatic 12-0 win over AFC Swindon which boosted their goal difference considerably which may prove it be important come the season end. It was a good evening for Adam Rudman who helped himself to a double hat-trick, Pete Sealey also notched a hat-trick, Paul Stonehouse bagged a brace with the other goal coming through Mason Worthington.

The other game was a massive top of the table clash between league leaders Redhouse and third placed Cricklade Town. A close encounter was anticipated, and it proved to be just that as a solitary goal scored by Cricklade Town’s Matt Richards was all that separated the two sides at the end of the evening. With all three teams having now reached the 16-game mark, with two to go, there are just two points separating the three sides at the top of the table with Coate and Redhouse still to play each other. Redhouse sit on 41 points, Coate are on 40 and Cricklade are one behind on 39 with Cricklade looking to have the easier run-in.
