The Under 18 Division kicked-off on Monday night and it saw away wins for both Calne Town and Devizes Town, Calne winning 3-2 at Green Lane against Bishops Cannings and Devizes securing an impressive 2-1 victory at last season's champions Kintbury Rangers.
Heavy rain on Thursday saw the postponement of the game between Melksham Town and Amesbury Town due to a waterlogged pitch. It was a similar story at Radstock Town where their FA Youth Cup was postponed meaning it will now be played this coming week and impacting this week's scheduled league fixtures in a repeat of last season. Melksham Town will now play Devizes Town in the league this coming week instead of Radstock. The one game that did get played on Thursday was on the 3G at Swindon Academy and it saw Swindon Supermarine record a comfortable 5-1 win over Westbury United on their debut in the division.
The final game of the week was on Friday night. Last season FC Chippenham and Wims 11 had fought out an entertaining 5-5 draw in the corresponding fixture and all games between the two sides last season were close encounters. It was a similar story in the first meeting between the two sides this season although there were fewer goals as FC Chippenham got off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory.
This coming week Kintbury Rangers entertain Swindon Supermarine on Monday night whilst Bishops Cannings are "away" to Westbury United, who share the same ground as Bishops Cannings. As well as that Melksham v Devizes game on Thursday night, Amesbury Town entertain FC Chippenham and Calne Town play hosts to Wims 11.
Please note that there will no longer be the usual roundups of games, pictures nor list of leading goal scorers in the Under 18 Division this coming season by order of the FA. If this is causing disappointment with your players, who we know like to see their goal scoring exploits publicised, please take the matter up with the Wilts FA as we are just doing as we have been told. We have given them are strong views on the matter.
