Ladies Games Being Postponed

All games in the League Cup, Ladies Premier Division and Development Division were postponed this week.

Next Week's Fixtures

Next week there is just the one league fixture scheduled with it being the Second Round of the Wiltshire FA County Cup. That league fixture is in the Development Division and a local derby game with Ferndale Rodbourne hosting Blunsdon at Moredon.

In the County Cup a number of sides from the league have some tough looking games, none more so than Westbury Youth from our Premier Division who take on Swindon Town who play three levels higher in the Women's Football Pyramid in Division One South West of the Women's National League. With Swindon Town sat second in the table, with just one defeat all season, and with Westbury yet to record a league win in our Premier Division Westbury Youth will cause an almighty upset if they manage to knock Swindon out of the competition.

Staverton Rangers also have a tough looking fixture at home to Royal Wootton Bassett Town from the South West Regional League Division One North, two levels higher than Staverton, who put 18 goals past fellow Development Division side Blunsdon in the last round.

Another side facing South West Regional League Division One North opponents are Melksham Town who travel away to Purton with the potential for causing an upset somewhat higher than the first two cup fixtures above. Purton are just the one level higher and are not having the best of seasons and currently occupy one of the relegation positions which if they remain there come the end of the season would be relegated back to the Wiltshire Senior League. Purton have won just one of their nine league fixtures to date and Melksham could well cause a cup upset in this tie.

The other four ties next Sunday are all Wiltshire Senior League affairs meaning the league is guaranteed four more sides to join Trowbridge Wanderers in the last eight of the competition. After their heroics in the last round where they eliminated South West Regional Division One North side Corsham Town, Bemerton Heath Harlequins  are home to Marlborough Town from the Development Division.

There is an all-Premier Division affair at the Webbswood Stadium where Swindon Supermarine entertain near neighbours Highworth Town, with the two sides also set to meet in the Quarter Final of the League Cup in January.

The other two ties see sides from the Development Division looking to cause cup upsets by knocking out sides from the Premier Division. Malmesbury Vics from the Development Division are home to Premier Division FC Chippenham and will go into the game with a 100% winning record at home, whilst FC Chippenham are still looking for their first league point of the season but did beat Ashton Keynes 7-3 in the last round of this competition. It should be an interesting game and a useful assessment of the relative strengths of the two divisions.

Similarly South Newton & Barford Hornets tie against Calne Town sees a Development Division side, the Hornets,  up against one from the Premier Division. South Newton & Barford have lost just once in their opening nine games and will fancy their chances against a Calne Town side who have just the two wins so far, although they have picked up in the past couple of months after a tough start to the season.
