North Wiltshire Division
There were just three games played in the North Wiltshire Veterans’ Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League last week, but the results culminated in three teams, Cricklade Town, Penhill United and Redhouse, ending the week on 42 points in what is turning out to be an exciting the battle for honours. The three are six points behind leaders Nationwide who are now close to securing the league title.
Nationwide now need just one point from their remaining two games after they dropped two points when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Purton Kingsdown, Patrick Slattery equalising for Purton Kingsdown in the second half after Richie Miles had given Nationwide a half time lead.
Redhouse were surprisingly beaten by ExIntel on Tuesday, a result which later in the week allowed Cricklade Town to move level on points with them and Penhill United. ExIntel have shown much improved form of late and secured their best result of the season with a 4-3 victory over Redhouse effectively ending Redhouse’s outside hopes of the title, although runners-up position is still within their sights. Goals from Jon Lee, James Joyce, Jason Stevens and own goal gave ExIntel the win, Michael Jones, Kieran Jennings and Jason Milhench with the Redhouse goals.
On Thursday night Cricklade Town took full advantage of that defeat for Redhouse to move level on points with Redhouse and into second spot with a 4-0 win over Swindon Rovers. There were two goals for Adam Smith and one apiece for Nick Craft and Steven Algar in this latest Cricklade Town win. This coming week sees a full schedule of six games with four of the sides in the division set to complete their fixtures for the season..
The scheduled game between Royal Wootton Bassett Town and AFC Swindon was postponed with AFC Swindon unable to raise a side.
Mid Wiltshire Division
There were no games played in the Mid Wiltshire Division last week but the action returns this coming Monday with games at both Radstock Town and Warminster Town.
