Weather Decimates Programme as Just One Game Survives
The wet weather during the week, followed by the heavy rain on Saturday itself, decimated this weekend’s Premier Division scheduled programme. Just one game survived as Frome Collegians switched their home fixture against Melksham Town Reserves to the nearby 3G at Selwood. They were rewarded for their efforts to get the game on with a good display from their side as they shared four goals and the points with their visitors Melksham. It looked like it could be even better as the game moved into its closing stages with Frome 2-1 to the good courtesy of two goals from Barry Sandquest, taking him to five for the season. However, a late penalty for the visitors saw Harvey Flippance also hit his second of the game to ensure a share of the points for visitors Melksham with his ninth goal of the season. The point for Melksham allowed them to climb above Royal Wootton Bassett Town Dev into seventh place in the table. Frome meanwhile remain in thirteenth spot but moved to within two points of the three sides above them.

It looked like the game at Kintbury might also go ahead. However, with Shrewton United at the ground for their league fixture against Kintbury Rangers, despite the best efforts of the local groundsman the match referee deemed the pitch unplayable and this game joined the other six games, including the two fixtures in the First Round of the Fountain Trophies Cup, in being postponed. All postponed games will be rescheduled for a later date.
