Message From Hon. General Secretary
The following email message was sent to all club secretaries and team managers:

As you’re aware, The FA have declared that the current season is ended and all results are null and void.  Unless instructed by The FA, I won’t be removing this season’s results from Full-Time and will leave them there for record purposes.

My understanding is that the decision was made by The FA Leagues Committee and is yet to be ratified by The FA Council and I’m aware that a number of clubs have written to The FA, asking them to reconsider.  If there’s any change to this decision, I’ll obviously let you know.

I took part in a voice conference with the Wiltshire FA and the two District Leagues today.  The consensus was that we now start planning for next season though as yet, we don’t know when it’s likely to begin or even when it’s going to be safe to hold an Annual General Meeting.  I understand that The FA are looking at a system whereby Leagues can hold an AGM by phoning in.  I’m not sure how that will work but again, I’ll let you know as and when I hear anything.

The League Officers and Management Committee have discussed next season (via e-mail) and are aware that many clubs will have lost income, either from this season’s remaining fixtures, income from clubhouse or summer events.  To help all clubs, we’ve agreed that we won’t charge an Annual League fee next season and the first 20 players will be registered free of charge.  This should save Premier Division clubs about £150 each and U18 Division and Vets clubs up to £70.

During the voice conference, we raised the matter of insurance as clubs will have paid a premium for 12 months insurance, but only received 8 or 9 months’ worth of cover.  The Wiltshire FA are going to contact Bluefin Insurance to see if clubs will receive a rebate or a discount from next seasons premium.

Please contact me if you have any queries.

Stay safe.

Update Re Insurance from Wilts FA (01-04-2020)
The following update has been provided by the Wilts FA regarding insurance:

Following the recent measures introduced by the Government to restrict outdoor activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bluefin Sport and our partner Insurer, AXA XL, have agreed the following approach in respect of Personal Accident insurance purchased via the National Game Insurance Scheme (NGIS), for the 2019/20 season :-

1.    All Personal Accident policies to remain in force until the expiry date, 30 June 2020;
2.    At the next renewal, all premiums will be discounted to reflect the period of inactivity, due to the Government measures, up to 31 May 2020.

By maintaining the Personal Accident insurance for the remainder of the policy period, this will ensure that cover is continuous for all Clubs/Teams, and hence, should the Government amend the restrictions in relation to outdoor activities, which means that some footballing activities can resume, prior to 30 June, the Personal Accident insurance will continue to cover the coaches, players and club officials, accordingly.

The Personal Accident insurance provided via the NGIS covers all organised footballing activities, so although all league and cup fixtures have been concluded for the 2019/20 season, the Personal Accident insurance will cover your affiliated Clubs/Teams in respect of :-

  • Friendlies
  • Training
  • Tournaments
  • Coaches, whilst attending County FA organised Educational courses
  • Club Social Events
Subject, of course, to adherence to the relevant advice / guidance issued by the Government and/or The Football Association.

The renewal invitation that will be issued in respect of the Personal Accident insurance for the 2020/21 season, will make specific reference to the premium adjustment made to reflect the period of inactivity due to the Government measures, thus ensuring full transparency, and avoid any misunderstandings, accordingly.

If there are any queries, please ask your Clubs/Teams to contact us on 0345 872 5060 or nationalgame@bluefinsport.co.uk.
