Bishops Cannings Football Club was founded by Kevin Halpin, Neil and Shelly Lawes in 2004. Initially the club had just enough players to form one U10 team.
The team played their games on the football field at Bishops Cannings school. Within a short time, numbers started to grow, and the club were able to register two teams with the Mid Wilts League.
For a short while, the club moved to a field adjacent to the New Inn at Coate until they outgrew it and moved to Green Lane in Devizes. As each year goes by, the club has grown to be able to support multiple age groups starting as young as U5s.
Season 2022-23 saw them enter an Under 18 team in the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League for the first time with the majority of the team being the successful Devizes Town side that did the league and cup double in Season 2021-22. The club is also entering an adult side in the Trowbridge & District League for the first time and they decided to join Division One of the Wiltshire Senior League for the start of Season 2023-24.
Bishops Cannings first season in the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League saw them lose their first game but then go three games unbeaten including an impressive 4-2 win over Cricklade Town. However, seven straight defeats in the league followed including a heavy defeat against near neighbours Devizes Town. In the end Bishops Cannings finished third from bottom but pushed some of the leading sides in some close games at the end of the season and will be looking to build on that in Season 2024-25.
