Rendle hits debut hat trick
Striker Dave Rendle made a dream league debut for his new side Wroughton, scoring all three goals in their 3-0 win at last season's champions Corsham Town. Signed from Westside in the close season, he opened his account with a tap-in after 20 minutes and added a second 10 minutes before the break, rounding a couple of defenders before slotting past the keeper. Rendle completed his hat-trick following a good move involving Tom Steptoe and Glenn Armstrong. Wroughton boss Mark Love, said: "I thought we were well on top for most of the game and could have had a couple more goals.'' Aldbourne, back in the senior section, were beaten 1-0 at home by visitors Westbury United, Mick Young getting the goal 10 minutes before the break with Aldbourne having a late equaliser ruled out.

Purton Reserves, under strength due to calls from the senior side, were always second best against visitors Bradford Town and were beaten 5-0. Danny Hurkett scored a brace and other goals came from Steve Bryant, Dan Fowler and Gavin Target.

Westside did well to hold AFC Trowbridge to a goalless draw on their own ground. Mark Simpkins, in his first season in charge of Westside, was equally pleased with the result and said: "The lads worked really hard, we hit a post and their keeper made a couple of blinding saves, we could have nicked it."

Devizes Town's assistant boss Simon Drewitt scored twice in his side's 3-0 win at Malmesbury with Pat Preece grabbing a third.

New College got the season off to a good start with a 3-0 win over visitors Marlborough Town. The home side got off to a good start with Alan Pappocki hitting a partially-cleared corner back into the net. After the restart Marlborough had the home side reeling as they pushed forward looking to level the scores. But they failed to find the net and were punished when Darryl Charman added a second for the College and Scott Campbell made sure of victory.

Calne Town were always in the box seat at home to Bromham and ran out winners 4-0 with goals from John O'Meara, Ben Trafford, Rikki Summers and Chris Pitman.

Lower Stratton, winners of Division Two last season, found it tough going in the higher grade and were beaten 4-1 at home by visitors Wroughton Reserves. Keith Dart, Ben Adams, Luke Curtis and Craig Roberts were on target.
AFC Abbey Rodbourne beat neighbours AFC Rodbourne 5-2. Nathan Shepherd (2), Matt Bown (2) and Darren Higgs for Abbey and Steve Winchcombe and Luke Panter for the home side.
Two goals from Chris Kyle gave Blyskawica a 2-1 lead until 10 minutes from time when Stratton Nalgo hit back to score twice and plunder the points, Liam Sutton, Jamie Lewis and Adam Webb on target.
Promoted Stratton Juniors found it tough going and were beaten 6-2 by Minety, the game spoilt by a brawl in the 90th minute.

Division Two newcomers fared well, Chalke Valley beat Swindon Irons 4-1, Tom Baldwin netting for the visitors, KCFC beat Blunsdon Reserves 4-0 through Lee Hurd, Dave Slattery, Ryan Lovegrove and Dave Levitt and Swindon APS accounted for Minety Reserves 12-2, Grant Songhurst (4), Liam Byfield and Graham Prictor with three each and Wayne Edmunds and Steve Hendry also scoring.
A first half goal gave Marlborough Town Reserves a 1-0 win over Dynamo CDR and FC Chippenham beat Aldbourne Reserves 4-1 with two goals from Andy Churcher and one each from Joe Forrester and 16-year-old John Ingram.

Second win for Wroughton
After an opening-day victory over last season's champions Corsham, Wroughton beat New College 3-2 in midweek with a goal in the last five minutes from Dave Rendle.
"It's been a quality start for us, but I must admit we looked second best against the College for the first hour," said the Wroughton boss Mark Love. "However, the lads dug deep and scored twice in the last quarter of an hour for victory.
College's Eric Stott said: "I thought the lads did enough to share the points in midweek against Wroughton but we were caught on the break in the last five minutes."

Aldbourne, leading 2-0, looked nailed on to chalk up their first Premier Division victory at Pewsey Vale in midweek but floodlight failure in the 76th minute caused the game to be abandoned. Aldbourne boss Mike Hartley said: "It will be a bit disappointing if we have to play it again, but that decision is down to the league.

Westside's new boss Mark Simpkins was delighted with his side's 7-0 away victory at Malmesbury in midweek, coupled with a hard-earned point in their opening game at Trowbridge. He said: "We played some excellent stuff at Malmesbury and are now looking forward to taking on last season's champions Corsham at the weekend.
