Club History
Stratton Juniors FC was established in 1992 as a youth football club and are based at Meadowcroft in Swindon.
Stratton Juniors FC is a community club with 19 youth teams (including two girls’ teams and an Under 16 Ability Counts team) from Under 6 through to Under 18, plus men’s and veteran’s teams. The club has grown significantly in recent years and is now one of the largest clubs in Swindon. The veteran’s side is a recent addition to the club.
The Club’s men’s team was first established in 2006-7 and was immediately successful finishing as runners-up in Junior Division 2 of the Wiltshire League, finishing three points behind champions Lower Stratton. The second place position meant promotion to Junior Division 1 and another successful season saw them finish in fourth spot in season 2007-8. They also made the final of the Wiltshire Junior Cup, losing 2-0 to Minety in the final. However, after the manager left in the summer to take over at Pewsey Vale the team withdrew from the league.
Having been re-formed in 2016, the men’s side were promoted to the top division of the Swindon & District League having finished in 5th place in their first season. They established themselves in the Premier Division with a 6th place finish in their first season in the top flight which laid the foundations for a very successful campaign the following season which saw them finish as runners-up in the Premier Division, achieving promotion to the Wiltshire Senior League, and also win the Wiltshire Junior Cup.
The clubs first two seasons in the Wiltshire Senior League were both impacted by Covid, with both seasons brought to an early end with Stratton Juniors struggling at the wrong end of the season at the time each season was ended. Season 2021-22 was to be the first complete season for Stratton Juniors in the top senior division in the county and it was to be another season of struggle, although results picked up towards the back end of the season which helped Stratton to finish in 13th place some 17 points clear of the bottom three sides.
If Stratton were hoping to have a better season in 2023-24 it did not materialise as, despite dropping down a level, they were to finish bottom of the table once again recording just two wins and two draws in their 26 games. There will once again be a change in the dugout for Season 2024-25 when Stratton will be hoping to put two difficult seasons behind them.
